The Memphis Improvisational Theatre (M.I.T.) was created in 2003, in order to provide performances and training in improvisational theatre. The mission of the group is to teach workshops and perform improvisational theatre and create sketch & multimedia works through improvisation. We are dedicated to the ongoing artistic development of our actors, the entertainment and enlightenment of our audiences, and the enhancement of the theatre community both locally and beyond.

The group was founded by Executive Producer, Greg Childers, who has been involved with improvisation as a performer, a director, an instructor, and a producer since 1991. His previous experience includes stints with Memphis troupes “the Overton Square Pegs” and “Vertical Imbalance.” He was also the producer for the Memphis Comedy Festival in 2001 & 2002.
